Kawah Putih
Kawah Putih is a large volcanic lake situated in the remnants of a crater of Mount Patuha. The acidic nature of the lake gives Kawah Putih its characteristic striking colour. Plumes of white clouds, the result of volcanic activity that goes on underneath the surface of the crater, regularly are blown from the lake.
Tangkuban Parahu
Tangkuban Perahu is an active volcano that sits 30 kilometres north of the city centre. While undeniably beautiful, Tangkuban Perahu is still a highly active volcano, erupting 16 times in the last 190 years. Its most recent eruption came in 2013. It is still popular among trekkers and the adventurous. For a rejuvenating visit, tourists can continue their journey to the hot springs of nearby Ciater.
Situ Patenggang
Sandwiched between the verdant rolling hills of Bandung, Patenggang Lake offers panoramic views all round. Located within the charming village of Ciwidey, Patenggang Lake covers over 45,000 hectares and is a favourite destination amongst newly-wed couples and is a popular honeymoon site. One of the vestiges of the cultural mix between the Dutch and Indonesia, Gedung Sate is one of the most beautiful architectural marvels in Bandung. An iconic landmark in Bandung, the area around Gedung Sate is famous for the variety of the world-famous, skewered-meat favourite satay and is sure to ensure to satiate the ardent street-food lover.
Braga Street
Braga Street is famous for its well-preserved colonial-era buildings, reflecting the Dutch influence during Indonesia’s colonial period. Many of these structures now house cafes, shops, and galleries, contributing to the street’s old-world charm. As a cultural hub, Braga Street has been a popular gathering place for artists, musicians, and writers throughout history. It was once the center of social life in Bandung and remains a symbol of the city’s heritage.
Geology Museum
The history of this Geology Museum was started in 1850 during Dutch colonization. That year the Dutch government in Indonesia established Dienst van het Mijnwezen, an organization to survey and do some researches on the geological materials in Indonesia. They need the minerals to support the industrial revolution in Europe.
